This photo is another in the On the Way to the Y series – notice the Printers Building in the background.
I turned this photo into a dirty Polaroidâ„¢-like image using Poladroid and Photoshop Elements. Poladroid is a free program that turns your photo into a Polaroidâ„¢-like image; I used grunge brushes by hawksMont to add the dirt and smudges in Photoshop Elements.
Here’s a lesson on how to create the Dirty Polaroid Effect.
And here is the original image before processing:

Love how you made an ordinary image striking – love the effect and the framing! Really nice!
Dressing up (or down) the picture really makes a difference. And how nice of you to give lessons–if ever I get any editing software, I know where to come to learn how to use it! Thanks.
Great image for this theme, Karen! You really took it to the next level with the effect you used. Thank you for sharing the tutorial and links!
That is a really neat effect for your ‘coin operated’ shot. Thanks for the tutorial!
This is a great shot made better by your cropping and craft approach, would you like to clarify when you first became interested in “Dirty French Postcards”? Thanks for showing me what grunge means, I thought all you scrappers were just headbangers for wanting “Grunge”, now I know!
Awesome crop and technique…love the framing !
Something about the way you cropped the shot made the meters look to me like C-3PO from Star Wars. You’ve made something mundane appear other-worldly.
Karen – you stole my idea!!!!! LOL Great photo thoug!
Grunge was a mystery to me too, Ron. Now I know. Grand stroke to treat the photo as you have. Makes a ordinary photo really pop.
Great photo for the theme. I love the Dirty Polaroid effect as well. Very cool.
Great idea for the theme! And the polaroid effect is neat too.
